Design Guide & Views documents

The Watlington Design Guide has been developed to give information about the visual context of Watlington and the features and materials which contribute to its character. It is not a statutory document but is intended to be used alongside the Neighbourhood Development Plan as guidance by anyone interested in making a planning application within the NDP area. It has been produced with support and advice from the SODC Urban Design team and is intended to be an informal, local, supplement to the SODC Design Guide published in 2016.

The Important Views document was produced in 2014 and includes examples of views of Watlington from the surrounding landscape including the popular viewpoint from Watlington Hill. The views of and from the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty make a significant contribution to the character of Watlington. The WNDP aims to protect these views.

The second Views document comprises a photographic character study of the Conservation Area. It illustrates characteristic vernacular buildings and street scenes which establish the town as a historic Chilterns settlement.
